Do I need to be fit?
We offer walking trips of various levels, and for many, no specific training or experience in walking is necessary. There are specific journeys for beginners - for example, weekend trips, perfect for stretching your legs and gauging your endurance - and others that we can tailor to your needs. Of course, these are still trips where you'll be walking several kilometers a day, so a bit of training is recommended to fully enjoy your holiday. To find out if a trip is right for you or to get help choosing one, write to us, and we'll be happy to assist!
Are these group trips?
Some are, and this will be clearly indicated on the trip’s description. However, most are self-guided trips - find out here what that means!
How many kilometers do we cover each day?
This varies greatly depending on the trip. On the dedicated page for each itinerary, you'll find the daily kilometers and the elevation gain and loss of each hike, to give you a more precise idea.
Do we stay in hostels?
No, our standard accommodations are 3-star hotels, bed and breakfasts, and farm stays with private rooms and bathrooms. In special cases - like group trips, or mountain trips with hostel stays - the room might be shared, or the bathroom communal; this will be clearly stated on the trip’s page.
How do I choose the right itinerary for me?
There are many factors to consider, the first of which is your fitness level: you might love the mountains, but if you're not well-trained, we advise against choosing a route like the Alta Via with significant altitudes. Then consider the type of landscape you'd like to traverse, whether you want to stay in Italy or go abroad, in the South or the North, if you'd like to see the sea or prefer a route full of art cities; whether you'd like to follow a path (like the Via Francigena or the Camino de Santiago - which are often very well marked and recommended for those who don't want to pay particular attention to maps and documentation) or if you prefer the idea of a less known route. There are so many variables to consider: if you're unsure, write to us, and we'll help you choose the right trip for you.
Can I start whenever I want?
In self-guided trips, you can choose the start date, while group trips naturally have fixed departure dates to consider.
